Moose Hunting, Bear Hunting Bookings Now Open!

We are now accepting bookings for our 2007 Eastern Moose hunting trips in the fall and for Black Bear hunting trips in the spring and fall. Travel to and from the hunting areas is done by boat, though we also use trucks and ATVs. With some of the largest forested regions in Atlantic Canada, Newfoundland’s terrain varies from dense forest to open bogs and marshes and also includes logged over areas, as moose tend to feed in new growth areas and fall bears forage for berries. The hunting for Black Bears can be done alone or combined with moose in the fall. We do both baited and stalking hunts.

Your guides will be glad to share hunting tips and other information gained through years of experience. They can advise you on where to expect game to appear, how far one should attempt a shot, as well as tips on hunting in general and specifics which will assist you with your hunt.

Atlantic Canada’s Best Hunting

We have been in the outfitting business in Newfoundland for 21 years, and we always strive for superior service and customer satisfaction. However, in terms of a guarantee, our hunting is very much like our fishing. We always attempt to understate, rather than promise the impossible and fail to deliver. No one should ever promise a sure kill as far as hunting wild animals are concerned and we advise you to be very cautious of anyone who does. To do so is to make promises about nature which are beyond most people's ability. What we can say is that you will enjoy the best hunting trip Atlantic Canada has to offer, as well as the rugged yet beautiful Newfoundland landscape and famous charm.

What we do promise to do is provide you with a hunting experience tailored to your preferences and physical condition which should enable you to successfully encounter the game animal you choose to hunt.

Here are a few tips on what to expect on a hunting trip in Newfoundland:

Only male moose have antlers, unlike caribou where both sexes have antlers.

Not all moose or antlers are the same size. When a moose steps out we can't make it have antlers, and if it does, we can't make them be big ones.

Moose hunting is a lot more like visiting a used car lot. You have to choose from what we have in stock. We do our best to show you what we have this week, more units are arriving all the time. But you have to see it and shoot it to take it home.

You don't have to shoot the first moose you see, but if you want to go home with a moose, you'd better shoot the last one you see.  Many antlers considered small or medium on Monday, have reached enormous proportions by Saturday morning, if only you could see them again.

We will do our very best to put you in position to sight on an animal which your licence allows you bag. Only you, the hunter, can decide if you want to take this particular moose. If you choose not to shoot, we keep hunting.

The bears like the moose come in different sizes, and should be respected as a very smart animal. They don't grow to be as large as they are by being stupid. Newfoundland has some of North Americas largest Black Bears and they are a challenge to hunt.

Some Happy Hunters and What They Had To Say About Their Newfoundland Hunting Trips

Thanks so much for making our visit to Newfoundland a "trip of a lifetime"! I received the photo via e-mail even before any of our pictures were developed so thanks for that as well. The trip home was smooth and uneventful, we went through customs with the antlers without a glitch.

Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality. I look forward to visiting again in the not too distant future.

Best Regards,
Bill

The mother, daughter and son-in-law pictured here with Bill all got their moose. It was 5 for 5 by weeks end
Our meat arrived fine, no leakage. Continental handled the freight and the CO staff said it was the best job of meat packaging they had ever seen and lots of meat gets shipped into Austin since there are so many hunters in Texas.

Thanks again, we all enjoyed it.

Best Regards,
Jonathan

Father & Son hunt together
Picked up the meat Friday in Newark. Excellent job of processing and no problems with storage or picking it up. Yesterday I tried two of the steaks on the grill and it was outstanding. My father has already headed south to beat the cold weather so he'll just have to wait a while before he can try some. Thanks for everything it was definitely a lot of fun and hope to stay in touch with you. Got to run, have to go to a turkey shoot today.

Thanks Again
Ben Jr.
