So
grab a chair, get a coffee and have a read.... This hunt
is exciting and will provide you with some of the best
experiences Newfoundland has to offer.

We work
together to offer you the "Newfoundland Grand
Slam" hunting adventure. Gander River Outfitters Inc.
has a very high density of Eastern Moose and Black Bears
in their operating area and Trophy
Hunts Inc. is located in "the home of the
Caribou". They harvest a very high percentage of
Trophy animals and they also have a good Black Bear
population. Together we can offer you the best of both
situations and put together the possibility of a grand
slam hunt.

Cessna 185 on takeoff from the Gander River Outfitters
Camp.
The trip between camps
usually happens about noon on Wednesdays during the 6 day
hunts. For 8-10 hunts it varies, depending on your
starting day.

Camp to camp
travel is door to door as you can see.
The charter company we use has the latest equipment and
the trip between camps takes approximately 45 minutes over
some very pretty country.

Attempting to accomplish
the Bear, Caribou and Moose all in one trip is no small
feat. You will typically commence your adventure from
Gander on a Sunday and will be on the go for an entire
week. An example of a typical hunt: You fly from the float
plane base in Gander, NF to the Thophy Hunts Inc. camp
approximately 1 hour southeast of Gander where you are in
the heart of Caribou country. Monday morning has you on
the move looking over the barrens for that special
Caribou. You may take some long walks or if you wish you
can survey the area from boats and set up an observation
post overlooking some natural Caribou passes. By Tuesday
you have the lay of the land and can usually count on
seeing several good head specimens any one of which you
would be proud to have gracing your wall. According to
plan you will take a Caribou on Tuesday or very early on
Wednesday. You may have also hunted for your bear,
depending on how long your caribou hunt took. They send
for "the plane", you say your good byes and soon
you are winging your way back over Gander and on to the
northeast coast where Gander River meets the ocean. A
short time later you are down on the water and a Gander
Riverboat pulls up alongside your aircraft and transfers
you to the Gander River Outfitters Inc. camp which is just
a short distance away. By Wednesday afternoon you are
moved in, watered and fed. You have met your guide and are
off for the moose and the bear if you haven't already
hunted your bear. After the evening hunt you are back at
camp for a fine meal and a good night's rest. Thursday and
Friday are two full hunting days which are normally enough
to put your rifle between you and a moose. Saturday is
also a hunting day and occasionally we need it to complete
the task. By Saturday night we are out of the bush by
riverboat and back to civilization. We then arrange for
your transportation from Gander Bay to Gander, NF. Your
trip is complete except for the delivery of your meat and
capes to the air cargo in Gander.

"Thanks so much for making our visit to
Newfoundland a "trip of a lifetime"!
I received the photo via e-mail even before any of our
pictures were developed, so thanks for that as well. The
trip home was smooth and uneventful, we went through
customs with the antlers without a glitch (they see a lot
of them this time of year).
Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality. I look
forward to visiting again in the not too distant future.
Best Regards,
Bill"
